- 2 pounds apples of your choice
- 1 Cup white sugar
- 1/2 Cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 Cup all-purpose flour
- 2 T. butter
- 1 pie crust – unbaked
- Peel and slice apples. Put into a large bowl and toss with sugars, cinnamon, and flour.
- Pour the apple mixture into the bottom pie crust.
- Cover the top of the pie with crust and crimp the edges of crust together.
- Wet hands with water and dampen top of the pie. Sprinkle with about 1 T of white sugar. Puncture top of pie with fork so pie will vent.
- Bake for 15 minutes and 450 degrees F, then reduce heat to 350 degrees F and continue baking for about 45 minutes more until crust is golden brown.
- It’s good to put a piece of aluminum foil or a cookie sheet under the pie in the oven to catch the overflows.
