Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars

2 1/3 C. Flour

2/3 C. brown sugar

3/4 C. butter

1 egg

2 C. semi-sweet or milk choc. chips (your preference), divided

1 can sweetened condensed milk

1 3/4 C. Toffee bits, divided (such as Heath or Skor Bars)



Heat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9 x 13 pan. In a large bowl or mixer, stir together flour and brown sugar, cut in butter until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add egg and mix well. Stir in1 1/2 C. chocolate chips. Reserve 1 1/2 C. of mixture and press the remaining crumb mixture onto the bottom of prepared 9 x 13 pan. Bake for 10 minutes. Pour can of sweetened condensed milk evenly over hot crust and top with 1 1/2 C. toffee bits. Sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture and remaining 1/2 C. chocolate chips over the top. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 C. toffee bits. Cool completely in pan.
