Homemade Bread

This recipe can be used for bread, rolls, scones, etc.

1/2 qt. Milk
3 T. Sugar
3/4 T. Salt
1/4 C. Shortening
3/4 T. Yeast
5 C. Flour

Warm the milk to just above lukewarm. Add the yeast and let sit for a few minutes. Then stir in the sugar. Add the shortening and beat well. Add 2 Cups of the flour, then mix in the salt, then add the rest of the flour. Transfer to a bowl that has been sprayed well. Let rise until doubled in size. Roll out the dough, form into what you need (such a bread loaves, rolls) then place on sprayed baking sheets. Let rise another 1/2 hour, then bake.
