Glow-in-the-dark Slime

  • Borax (found in laundry aisle)
  • Elmer’s Glue (clear of white – your choice)
  • Empty 2-liter pop bottle
  • 2 small plastic cups
  • wood popsicle stick
  • glow-in-the-dark paint
  • Food Coloring (optional)

Start by putting 1 C. of borax in the pop bottle. Add roughly about 2 cups water and shake well. In one of small plastic cups, add as much Elmer’s glue as you like – this will be the amount of slime that will be made. Measure the glue though because this is also the same amount of water that you will need… make sure you keep a 50 / 50 ratio between glue and water. Mix the glue and water together using the popsicle sticks. Now add 1-2 tsp. of glow-in-the-dark paint and food coloring, if using, to the water/glue mixture and mix well. Now pour some (about 1/4-1/3 cup) of the saturated borax solution into the other small cup. SLOWLY, a few drops at a time, stir the borax solution into the glue mixture… small clumps will begin to form – this is good. Keep adding a few drops of the borax solution at a time and stirring until the slime forms into a large clump (it is okay if there’s a bit of liquid left in the bottom of the cup). At this point, you can be done mixing and enjoy your slime, or you could add a bit more borax solution to stiffen the slime up a bit. When your slime is ready, take it off the stick, and rinse it off with water.
